 Book Evaluation: The Heart of Darkness Essay

The Center of Darkness The seek out truth and knowledge eats us all at some time in our lives, but we all don't often find whatever we are looking for for that matter. We want it to be definitive, yet more than that, all of us search for this with the good belief that people will find it and be satisfied, pleasantly enlightened, and will live better lives for it. In Heart of Darkness, psychological data reports that this is seldom true. Kurtz was destroyed by truth this individual discovered regarding himself as well as the world this individual lived in. He previously known and believed a " white" truth regarding the world this individual knew. His white fact was among civilized, genteel ideas and actions. Living amongst the fortunate few, the artists, performers, orators, and also other cultured persons, he recognized nothing with the dark absolute depths of the human heart. When confronted with those horrible realities, he was forced to the " black" truth about life and people. His head couldn't understand the truths he had to simply accept; it was absolutely contradicting as to what he knew, and so this individual crumbled, offering his heart to stay among devils and demons. He was empty inside, acquired no perception of moral or perhaps social responsibility, and the black truth this individual discovered ate away and destroyed him. He regressed to savage behaviors he had previously overpowered, oppressed and let the night fill the cold void within him. Because he recognized so much blackness, he was unable to live in culture again. He crossed as well as relinquished every ties to the civilized community, for he had lived the white truths to an intense, so would he live the dark truths. Kurtz showed what are the results when the white colored truths and lies of society are taken away. Kurtz lived and found sustenance in this reality, because it vanished and was replaced by an additional, darker community, he collapsed. In our culture, we live by constraint. For Kurtz in Africa, all the vices were taken out and having been allowed to possess as much chocolate as he wanted, even before supper. This turned out to be too much intended for him, this individual went to a long and was destroyed...
